Big skies
It is so good for our London eyes to be able to stretch and see beyond where they can see...that makes sense to me but seems less senseful when I write it down, I hope you know what I mean. Despite the weather forecast being dreadful we enjoyed glorious blue skies all morning for our walk through this valley, over a stream, under a fence and up a waterfall. It was fabulous. I think my favourite walk of the three we did over the weekend.
There were actual 13 of us but here somehow I managed to catch our hosts on their own. These are friends we met in London when our sons went to school together - from nursery until Year 4. Then they made the big move from London to a remote farmhouse in The Lakes National Park. Quite a contrast. And they are very happy and loving it. And we love being able to visit them and fill our lungs with clean air and exercise our eye muscles. Not sure we'd feel quite the same in the middle of winter...
We went with another London family whose son was also in their class and who has a sister a year younger than Anna. So the three boys have a lovely time together; the girls get on really well and there are two big sisters to entertain them too. Albi has two dogs to hang out with. And all the grown-ups play nicely together too.
I am backblipping from the middle of a busy week and so there is not much completeness to this entry but I should record our flat tyre, Carl's dash to Kwikfit in Carlisle and our long journey home in the rain. But they were incidentals to the day and this was really the main event.
Very happy we were able to make this weekend work. We were all tired on Tuesday morning but completely worth it as we all had a fabulous time and an open invitation back again next year.
