A grand day out
What an amazing meal we had last night. It was like Masterchef - and Professional Masterchef at that!
Apart from the wonderful food, the service was excellent - it's such a pleasure to watch waiting staff who know what they're doing - attentive but unobtrusive.
And - best of all - NO MUZAK! Just a subdued, peaceful ambience of happy punters chatting quietly, in a gorgeous elegant dining room. I loved it. We've been looking forward to tonight's meal all day too!
We had a coffee after the meal sitting in big leather chairs by one of the roaring fires. The coffee came with wee tasty chocolatey treats. As one waiter/barman walked by, he glanced at our table, saw that the coffee pot's handle was not turned towards us (the waiter having poured it for us) stopped in his tracks, and came to turn it around. Nice.
What a great day we had today - sunshine, snowy mountains, glistening lochs. I wanted a shot of Schiehallion, the biggest mountain in the area, but I could never stop when I wanted to on the wee twisty roads. This is Queen's View and Loch Tummel, on the way home just before sunset. It looks cold, but I didn't even have my cost on!
Actually, that must be Schiehallion away in the distance. [Contour lines were invented on the mountain as part of an experiment to determine the mass of the earth.]
We even had an unexpectedly decent flat white in Aberfeldy, with a Kiwi and an Aussie girl serving. A bit of shopping too. And I could not resist a big scone at our favourite - House of Bruar.
And we didn't think of wee Archie once. (Actually, several times...)
