Startled Starlings

So there we were sitting having a beer, and there was a noise above us. we looked up, and the sky almost went black! There was a flock of starlings going overhead and they kept coming, and coming, and coming.....

There were thousands of them. Initially, I didn't expect there to be so many, and therefore didn't react and try to take a photograph. On several occasions, I found myself saying inside my head "I'm too late, it'll be over very soon". But it wasn't.

Of course, when I eventually decided to try and capture it, it took many attempts as it was near impossible to focus. Naturally the shot I eventually got was just as they were thinning out!!

It was an amazing sight nonetheless. And a nice sunset. And a nice beer!
