Fiddler on the Train

The "Season" is drawing to a close, and there are only a few more bookings on "The Lord of the Glens" at Kyle. Tonight was one of them.

The audience were great - game for a laugh, and willing to sing their hearts out.

I noticed when I arrived that "The Royal Scotsman" was in the railway station, right beside the ship. I haven't seen this train since I was a wee girl. I love looking in at the lucky people, eating in splendour, with lovely lamps, linen and silverware. I half expected Hercule Poirot to make an appearance.

When I left the ship, to wind my weary way homeward, I heard the familiar strain of "Crossing the Minch" being played on the fiddle, and realised that the tourists on board the train were being entertained in much the same way as my audience had been.

I wonder who I could contact to pinch this guy's gig from him next year?

Only joking, folks!
