Sparkles

Went round to Stuart and Hayley's this evening for sparklers and had great fun taking pictures of excitable children playing with fire! Right up until Ben burnt his thumb - he kept swapping hands and eventually got to the hot bit. Burnt a hole in his gloves, and has had his thumb under the tap for a long time... not that he seemed particularly bothered by it. He took his glove off, showed Steve that he had an ouch, allowed his thumb to be held under the running water, and then every time it started getting warm again he'd come and say it needed more under tap and would pretty much hold his hand there himself. No tears, no fuss, just got on with it. Am quite quite amazed at him. Kept telling everyone he'd got an ouch on his thumb from the sparklers, bless him. He's just been looking at the rest of the pictures with me and keeps saying he got his ouch from those sparklers.

More pictures over on flickr. They're all straight off the camera, apart from the odd bit of cropping. Loads of fun taking them!

He's fast asleep again now. Think he might have fallen asleep in the car on the way home - almost before we'd even got to the end of their road! But he was awake for the level crossing so I'm not sure what happened. We've put a bit of witch hazel on his thumb which he was most displeased about but that's the fastest he's fallen asleep in an evening for quite a while.

He fell asleep at the supermarket earlier. Steve took him, and he chattered all the way there, then suddenly it was like someone flicked the off switch and he was asleep by the time they had parked in the carpark. Got him into a trolley, Steve saw he was nodding, told him he could put his head down if he wanted, and he spent the entire grocery shop asleep with his head on his hands in the trolley! It was going over the bumpy bits back to the car that woke him up it would seem.

Blimey. I think we might have utterly worn him out this past week and weekend.

Steve took him to church this morning as well to give me a break. This cold has got me shattered - but at least I slept last night! That is, after the takeaway pizza, the sudafed, and finishing writing a letter to the obstetric consultant about how I feel about the impending delivery. Stomach full, nose cleared, brain shut up. I slept until 5,30am which is quite respectable at the moment. AND I got back to sleep after that as well.

So I have had a day off in effect!

Did do some hoovering in the back bedroom though, trying to clear away some of the sawdust. Not sure how good an idea it was although it's brought on a full day of braxton hicks...

Midwife in the morning to talk about Friday's appointment. Ben's going back to Hayley's to play on the Wii! Lucky thing. :D
