Bathtime

Night #4 of baby Merricks long weekend with grandpa and grandma. Let's count them. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and now Saturday. One more sleepover on Sunday night...then his parents come home on Monday...early afternoon. That's 39 hours and 11 minutes away...but who's counting?

He really is a good baby, but at just over 9 months old...he has discovered that he likes to lift himself up on things, and walk sideways or forward to his next destination. He only likes to do that for 4-5 hours at a time. It doesn't give g-pa and g-ma much time to look away, or time to have a little rest.

It's been just over 28 years since we have gone through this. I think we tend to forget how busy these little ones are. Along with the constant movement...diaper changes( she is ahead in the poopy count 4-3), the food trials, and the stuggle to get the jammies on...It's a lot of work. But...it also is a special time...a time to bond...a time to draw close...a time to laugh...a time to love.

I remember my wife and I doing this to my mother a couple of times. The difference was...we left her with 3 little ones. Thinking back...I wonder if it tired her out like it does us. (Not a complaint...just an observation.)

I know my daughter and her husband appreciate the time away. They went to visit some friends with 2 kids who are 6 and 4, and my daughter has been around the babies since their birth. They moved to South Carolina in February. The 2 mothers text and call each other, but it's never the same.

The little man is in bed...hopefully for a long nights sleep. With my typing skills...the time is now down to 38 hours and 45 minutes.......
