Back down to Tyneside, in a car this time; I thought when I discovered that we'd been booked into the Vermont hotel overnight I would surely get an interesting view of something. The hotel is situated right beside the castle (the white building just visible from the station here), from where only a modest four or five stories are apparent. It was slightly surprising that at this entry point one is already on the sixth storey. And the view from my bedroom was.....interesting, I suppose, although a little closer to the East Coast mainline than I might have wished.
