Sleeping

As usual when I'm due to catch the overnight sleeper, the day seemed very unsettled (and not just the weather). When I got to the train at about 10:30 pm there was a huge stramash on the platform when a party of about 30 foreign students and their minders discovered that the bargain tickets they had purchased entitled them only to seats on the sleeper, rather than beds. Oh dear. The steward in the buffet car was also in a state of distraction as some of his supplies seemed to have been marooned in Carlisle, due to the last bout of rail disruption due to atrocious weather.

This was the view from the cabin just before I turned in around 23:30 - looking approximately NNW.
