Nest building

'Watch what you're doing with that branch!'

I went out today to do some HDR work of an decaying old church; I found plenty of other decrepit buildings in what is almost a ghost town, and met some nice people, one who owned some old buildings and another who insisted that they were all haunted. Since I was only a couple of miles from my eagles, I thought I would take a quick ride over there. Unfortunately there was an airboat rally or trial going on; they were thundering along between the osprey's nest and the eagles territory, so I didn't hold out much hope of seeing either. Imagine my surprise, dear reader, when I saw two osprey, way up in their nest. By the time I had pulled out the longest lens I have, and then wrestled with the tripod, one had flown off. Not to worry, thought I, I will take the one, now I am all set up. As I clicked away, who flew into the frame but the missing bird, complete with half a tree. It is all about luck and being in the right place at the right time; shortly afterwards they both took off, complaining about the noise and people. I am sure they will be back later.
