Through the window of a 19th century cracker built chapel house; the first pioneers to the Florida interior built their settlements out of the readily available wood. Their livestock roamed free and the farmers would round them up by cracking long stock whips in the bush, hence the name; cracker cowboys, cracker ponies, cracker settlements.
