Sing Up!
I heard first thing this morning that it is National Sing Up Day! From what I can gather, it's nothing more than an excuse to sing along to whatever you wish to.
Edit: Just found out it's our own Katherine Ellis who launched it on BBC Breakfast
That's never a problem here, because to enjoy a dance around the kitchen table, you must enjoy singing loudly and, in my case, widly out of tune.
I decided this was to be the theme for my day.
In Queensferry I sang along to the radio and to my Auntie's favourite - Wooden Heat by Elvis, to The Bee Gee's Stayin Alive and to Sting's Fields of Bali.
My Dad is the master of a sing song. He and my sister are very alike here. Both of them love to sing, both of them can and do sing whenever, wherever.
There is no finer place to sing than in the car. When we were out and about I asked Dad to start with the Sing Up song of his choice - I knew what was coming.
If you don't know this song, I pity you, it's one we have sung for such a long time, everyone in our family knows the words, although sometimes we get the verses confused. It is such a lot of fun. I will always remember this as my Dad's song, although I think my sister did introduce it to him. This and My Big Kilmarnock Bunnet, which he sang with his friend Bob.
I mentioned this to my girl tonight, and coincidentally she and a pal had been talking about the same song today.
So if you can take a minute to listen. I wanted to record it on my journal to remind me of our love for it.
As for the photo, back to the Harbour in Queensferry. The view is the total opposite of living in a Skyscrapper in Castlemilk. I liked the textures on the ground and the rust on the pillars.
