50 Million Years Old.
These are 50 million year old fossilised shark's teeth, ray's teeth and shells found on the isle of Sheppey.
They are resting on the lid of a paleontologist's laptop. She tipped them out from a very ordinary plastic bag. The one she used to gather them a few months ago.
I thought they were Beech Nuts at first. I was amazed when she told me what they were. It made me feel rather temporary.
Spending time in Cambridge always gives me a sense of time, but this was an extreme example.
