Meet the Morgans

busy bees

We have been fairly busy today compared to the lazyness of last week. We were up at 7.20 and had breakfast and then I started to prepare dinner whilst Amelie had a play. I also started to make some bread (although I knew the day was going to be busy and predicted that it wasn't going to turn out right at all...). I then attempted my shower but Amelie wasn't having any of it so she sat beside her poor tired Daddy in bed whilst I got ready. Then it was through for a nap (10.30 by this point). She took a bit to go down but then slept for 1 hour and 45 minutes - longest daytime nap in the history of Amelie whilst not being held. She was pretty refreshed when she woke and ready for lunch seeing as she had slept all the way through snack and she wolfed down toast and jam, banana and some raisins. I did the dishes, dishwasher, put a washing on etc whilst she was eating. Then we were ready to go to Baby Explorers. This group on a Tuesday is lots of singing and then some unusal toys (instruments, household objects etc). Amelie was singing along (not quite the right words but hey...!!) and then enjoyed the toys but kept crawling over to tiny babies and making me very nervous! The reactions of the new mums was identicle to what I had been like (and many many other new mums I'm sure) when it was me in that position so I kept moving her away. She was rather fascinated by them though! After Baby Explorers Louise and I headed back to hers. Amelie didn't have an afternoon sleep and didn't seem to need one after her long morning nap but by dinner time she was definitely tired and very grumpy. She was crying every so often and didn't stop when I sat down to play with her (she usually carries on no matter how tired she is!) That, hand in hand with an observation earlier of how close her front teeth are to coming through the gums - we figured it must be her teeth. She cheered up in the bath and drank her bottle well. I read her a couple of stories in her cot but she just wanted to crawl around. I could smell my dinner in the oven and I knew that she could probably sense my eagerness for her to be asleep so carried on playing about for 45 minutes!! She's not stirred since she eventually went down though so thats good.

I've noticed recently that she has become clingier with me again - could be something to do with her teeth. She was sitting on me earlier and decided to bounce repeatedly on me, holding my shoulders, and then planted a big slobbery-tongue licking-kiss right on me!! Very sweet my lovely, thank you.
