PIED STILT
We have the cousin to this pied stilt - the balck stilt which is endangered species and lives primarily in the Waitaki River area ( near Oamaru) - So I cant give you a black stilt today - settling for the pied.
They are found throughout the world. Long spindly legs which they carry behind themselves in flight. Found around lake edges or marshlands etc and this is where I ended up today. Notice please the out of focus area in the forground - this being me doing a " rainie " flat on my stomach - and as it turned out getting very wet - it seeping through the reeds.
Never mind I like the low profile - as all good photographers we know we have to get down to their level.
