Autumn light
This is a trail scene at Huckleberry Regional Preserve. The shrubs with yellow leaves are California hazelnuts. Many of them haven't dropped their autumn leaves yet, but next spring's buds are growing next to them on the twigs. The taller trees are mostly bay laurels. Their leaves have a great smell, but the chemicals that produce it are toxic to insects that might want to munch on
the leaves. Interestingly, there were no early fungi although it rained several days ago. They'll hopefully pop up soon.
