Still Smiling

Just.

One of those days. You know, where it starts badly... Oh my word. Monday morning + rush hour + gales and downpours = TRAFFIC.

Because the weather was so awful I didn't go and do some shopping while the car was being serviced, so I was stuck in the Skoda dealership showroom for two hours. I was so bored I actually ended up reading through the engine specifications of the new Fabia vRS. (As well as two newspapers and several pieces of promotional literature.)

I'm actually a little bit smitten.

We have a vRS already anyway, but the new one... well it's even sexier and even better (in my eyes). I do so love a little red hot hatch.

And then, on the way home (eventually) my vRS did the most stunning overtaking manoeuvre and I fell in love with it again. I love my car. I was smiling for ages. So much so that I missed the roundabout exit to go home and several miles down the road realised I wasn't where I should be and had to turn round.

It wasn't all that bad a day, overall. Just lots of little things that if I'd been in a bad mood could have made me a right grumpy old woman. Like missing my turning, like the rain and the wind making me into a dishevelled mess while women all around me in Costa look like their hair hasn't even noticed it was raining. Like Ben falling asleep five minutes before we got to our destination - TWICE - rather than on setting off, which would have been better. Like buying logs and kindling for the fire and leaving the kindling on the self-serve checkout thing. (Thankfully I remembered, and the helpful chap at B&Q realised as well...) Like Ben now being fast asleep which is going to make bedtime so much fun.

At least I didn't have to go back out to pick Steve up from work, we only got home at 5pm! I'm really hoping that that bottle of wine I keep seeing in the fridge isn't a figment of my imagination.

Seriously.
