Coffee and Cake Time

Time for some down time. Nearly nap time.

Tried this in mono but it didn't have the same bright happy garish fee to it :)

By 8.30am this morning I'd already been subjected to 3 minor tantrums. These are not the start of the Terrible Twos, I'm not having that. (Although I do understand that around this age kids' testosterone levels start spiking horribly similar to puberty, which explains a lot of irrational behaviour and mood swings, but I believe that a lot of tantrums can be avoided by paying attention to children and stopping the tantrum before they have a chance to start. Not be appeasement, but by dealing with the problem before it becomes an issue. That's what I think anyway, so it should be interesting to see how this year turns out...)

No, this was Mr I'm-Addicted-To-Playing-My-New-Drumkit-And-I-Need-My-Fix-NOW.

But we managed to get dressed and have breakfast eventually, and I even found and managed to assemble the drumkit which, to my amazement, hasn't been played non-stop already! Maybe it's like chocolate and sweet things. Ben doesn't have a great sweet tooth, and Steve and I attribute that to the fact that we have never restricted chocolates or biscuits or made them into a treat or a reward. (We don't really 'do' rewards, or punishments, particularly.) Ben loves cakes and biscuits and chocolates but won't eat a lot of any of it. But take it away, and he wants some. Maybe the drumkit will be like that. If it's out more often, maybe it won't call to him quite so loudly and persistently. Maybe the drug will lose some of its potency. Maybe. We'll see how today goes.

My get up and go is still missing, but I don't particularly care today - nothing much to get up for, apart from to go out for milk.

Which is why coffee and cake time happened at 1pm rather than 11am...
