The great chestnut hunt

Earlier in the day is was doing this. But then the sun came out and we put down our books by the fire and strode out into autumn. We snuffled the chestnuts that the pigs hadn't got to and had fun roasting them. I've just learned that we had to make slits in the chestnuts to stop them exploding. Luckily, the fire had a glass cover or we would have been covered in a chestnut explosion! We did manage to roast quite a few to perfection.
