Pinecrest Lake
This blip photo is the boys romping around in the Pinecrest Lake today. You can see from their funny expressions that I had them looking into the sun while I took this picture. I never would have guessed that at the end of September the weather would permit such a thing. Boy was I wrong...the weather and the lake were warm enough for swimming. The boys and Scout pup both enjoyed the time in the lake while watching people spending the day kayaking and canoeing. They, of course, want to rent a boat next time as they were drooling over people setting their fishing lines down smack dab in the middle of the lake. We told them that perhaps next time we will rent a boat, and perhaps bring someone with us who even knows a bit about fishing :) Not our forte'. While the boys played....I read an ENTIRE book. It was heaven since I haven't read in ages. We ate lunch on the lake's beach and when the day got darker we headed back to the campsite close-by.
At the campsite Gary made some awesome chili with sourdough bread to dip in it and we devoured it before having some cuddle time in front of the fire. When Landon comes to me and asks to sit on my lap I always know it means he's ready for bed. Sure enough he was out in a few short minutes and so Gary tucked him into his sleeping bag. Then Loren, Liam, Gary and I played games. I was a bit nervous since we were the only family left in the camping loop we were on. They closed it down to any new people and then everyone had packed up and left for the weekend, leaving us all alone. A ranger didn't even drive by...so after watching years of scary movies in the past I had a whole bunch of scenarios going on in my head. We made it through the night alive in that dark, lonely forest...aside from some masked bandits (raccoons) visiting us.
