I find Canadian trains very odd: they 'board' you so that specific carriages are for specific destinations. This means that if you are going somewhere popular, the carriage will be full and stay full all the way, even though there may be half empty carriages on the same train.
With respect to queues and being bossed around by functionaries, the Canadians seem surprisingly docile. But the hotel service is excellent and we could learn a lot from it.
