Bad news: From Reuters-Even though human trafficking is illegal according to Canadian law, Canadian immigration has granted visa exemptions to certain countries, making it easy for Eastern European human trafficking groups to use it as a transit route for shuttling victims (mostly women) from Europe and Asia to work in the illegal sex trade in the USA.
Because these women understand that they will be working as prostitutes but don't realize they will exploited till after they arrive, they are impossible to identify upon entry in to the country. The traffickers use 'escort services' to front this venture, luring drug addicts from the Internet and controlling them by supporting their drug habits and inducing fear of exposure.
Canadian authorities stated that in the coming year they plan to crack down on this illegal activity.
How sad that women would be desperate/addicted/uninformed/stupid enough to think that their only way out would be to travel to the North American continent and sell themselves. How deplorable that waiting in the wings, are people who jump on the chance to take advantage of that.

Good news: From a Russian newspaper we learn that Russian animal laws are about to receive a major overhaul. Here are a few of the improvements pending:
- You will no longer be able to take your dog for a walk while inebriated.
- Pet owners will be expected to follow sanitary laws of picking up their dog poop in public, and will be expected to feed them well and provide proper veterinary care.
- The laws will expect the owners to follow safety measures to prevent untrained dogs from biting.
- Dogs will only be able to walk on leash in urban areas.
- The new law regarding having an animal put down stresses that the animals may be put down only in humane ways.
Are you kidding me, it's 2010 and they're finally getting on board with this? Where the hell have you been, Russia?
