Dark and Light II
Bad news: The saga of the Florida pastor with the hamster-sized brain continues. Pastor Terry Jones, a man with a congregation of no more than one-hundred individuals has been flung onto the world stage by a media frenzy surrounding his highly advertised plans to burn copies of the Quran on the anniversary of 9/11.
Some time during the last few days, he was following the tweets of Sarah Palin, an individual with an even smaller brain and was, amazingly, able to make some connection between his plan and another controversy-the proposed building of a mosque near ground zero. His hamster brain was able to make the astonishing leap that if the planners of the mosque moved it away from ground zero (we don't know how far is far enough; ten blocks, twenty blocks) he would put a stop to his plan of burning the Islamic Holy Book.
I can't understand why the media has given this man a platform for his lunacy instead of ignoring him. I can understand why our government would take this so seriously but I can't understand why they don't simply detain him and his flock of brainless sheep for planning an act that could incite global riots and violence. Does he not watch the news to realize that President Obama was just able to get the Middle East peace talks kick started again after years of hiatus? Talk about shitty timing.

Good news: Scientists have discovered a new microbe while studying the impact of millions of gallons of oil spilled into the Gulf following the explosion of BP's Deepwater Horizon drilling rig. The microbe, closely related to Oceanospirillales, consumes oil droplets at deep sea levels without significantly depleting oxygen in the water, scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National reported. They based their findings on samples collected from 17 deepwater sites between May 25 and June 2.
It could mean that the impact on other smaller and microbial marine life is less than initially feared, which would be extremely good news.
