It all started here!

This is Brian W from our walking group. He led today's walk, a circular from Allen Banks. Here we have reached NY 768 603, Kingswood Rigg. It is a place of great significance.

The first Haltwhistle Walking Festival
took place in 2003. Brian was one of the local walkers who volunteered to lead walks. After the festival, four of them David C, Ian W, Ray W and Brian were out walking together. They stopped at Kingswood Rigg to have lunch where there was shelter. In their chat, one of them - no one is sure who - suggested that they continue to walk regularly because they had enjoyed the festival so much.

So the Rings walkers, our regular Wednesday group was born. We now offer 2 walks each week and we run the twice yearly walking festivals. (..and we have a lot of fun doing it).

Well done those 4 friends who decided to keep walking that day!
