The still centre

Just happened to see a few poppies by the roadside in Acomb village today. It was very windy and I tried to take photos to show the movement in the petals. The centre seemed to stay relatively still whilst the petals blew around. In one poppy I found this - a hover fly I think - who was continuing to feed despite all the movement.

When I came to process the image I opted for a close crop in the end. I love the intense colours and the contrast of the papery petals in magenta against the yellows, blacks and browns of the fly.
