The Big 05!
Today was my baby's 5th birthday...so hard to believe Landon's 5 already. I still have flashbacks of my premature NICU baby with tubes coming out all over the place. Now he is so big and healthy and a little comedian. After I dropped him off at school I did some VERY last minute birthday shopping and gift wrapping and then ran back to the school by the time his 11:05 am lunch time was. You see, his BD lunch of choice was a McDonalds chicken nugget Happy Meal. I picked it up on the way to the school and had lunch with him as well as cupcakes in the lunchroom. They all sang to him and he got a special BD necklace in the lunchroom from Ms. Stacey and then a hat from his teacher. While I was outside on the playground watching him and the class after lunch, I turn around to see these girls tying my son up with a rope. Yikes! Not quite sure what that one was all about...but it is my blip photo of the day. I ended up staying and helping in the class since he got out shortly thereafter (I am certainly testing the limits of the puppy with his crate training). The teacher put me to work! While helping, Landon said 'mommy, I've got to tell you something' and proceeded to get out of his seat. Before I got a chance to tell him he needed to keep himself seated and get his work completed, he was already to the desk I was working at and whispered 'Mommy, I love you' and went back to his seat. What a way to melt mommy. He certainly knows the right words to say :) Then the school day ended for him and he passed out his handprint favors that had to his classmates.
He was excited when I told him we were headed over to Target to get the Nintendo DS he had wanted! Several people had given him money to go towards the DS since we had told him he needed to save for it. He picked one out in blue. (he didn't know we had already bought him an Iron Man skin to go on it). I didn't admit to him I had just been to Target that morning to get a couple of his gifts that last minute!
It was a night of soccer, so we had to put off the gift opening until the very end of the night..but he received a couple 3-D puzzles from us, a frog riding a motorcycle :D, a new bike helmet, the Iron Man DS skin, Aliens in the Attic DVD (one of his favorite movies), Fossil Fighters DS game, a binder/sheets to hold collector cards and a coloring book. He will have to put off playing with his new things until tomorrow.
