Esplanade beach houses - holidays day 1
Up early for a sharp get away. We have done the drive south many times, last year it was dreadful, this year save 25 minutes of tears from number 1 son, it was perfect. We rolled onto the beach before 5pm for the ice cream, then well shock disaster and panic stations galore.
Imagine my surprise/disgust/horror when I saw the above beach houses, opposite the Esplanade at Southsea, and go to to take a photo and the camera does not switch on. Oh, look at the battery, all looks normal, camera not showing any sign of life. Utter panic sets in, like many people I'm getting quite addicted to taking one photo every day, well I'm actually taking many more, you should see some of the dross that thankfully doesn't get published.
So thoughts are racing through my head, having been driving pretty much for 10 hours, 2 stops at our favourite service stations, not sure you can use those in the same sentence but let's say the ones where the kids get to run around and we get to look at rabbits or swallows, where do I get emergency repairs for cameras, it might take days, how will I cope with camera 2, an oldish Kodak used by the girls.
Anyway, I take photos, pity the Nikon wasn't working, as this is point and shoot-tastic.
Well we get to the ferry, I rapidly purchase another adaptor to check if the battery will charge a bit, thank the Lord it did, and I was so relieved. Serious panic stations were going on.
