Thistle Down

By Ethel

Morning Prayer

Unborn day...beyond those darkened hills,
A restless pause...where sleep no longer fills.
And soul awaits...before an eager start,
To scan anew...the innerness of heart.

Lord...grant my feelings to be warm,
And folks about...just keep from harm.
Plant with goodness...love's golden seeds,
Put them in flowers with kindly deeds.

May evil and hate no rootlet take,
And vain attempts no efforts make.
To hinder acts that hope aspires,
God...give me strength for my desires.
