Thistle Down

The Future

They talk about the future,
And how that it should be.
With the government spending money,
In ways you can not see.

How progression is ascending,
In gigantic bounds and leaps.
How the guy that does the talking,
Is a scoundrel...half asleep.

They talk about the oil-exchange,
The sugar and the meat.
How the weed-seed and the weevil,
Are taking all the wheat.

There's talk about the younger set,
That grew to be a sap.
And how it was in days before,
The generation gap.

Where the future will be going,
Every body seems to know.
And with every body talking,
It's just blowing to and fro.
