Quaility time

Took #1 son out to the town to buy him a pair of trainers. A breeze I thought. Wrong! The first shoe shop (Schuh) were helpful but did not have a trainer size 12, they did have a knacky way of checking their stock with a computer screen. Impressed.
Went to John Lewis's the male dept of the shop floor seemed to be bereft of male helpers. we did eventually find one dressed like a city broker who said "sorry no 12's but dh did give a list of possible other shops, so they were at least helpful
Nest we tried some place called Soletrader, God the music would deafen you for starters, plenty staff but none wanting to offer help, nil points to them then
Next was J~DSports, first you had to try to separate the staff from the public, to be fair once I worked out they wore JD T shirts and once you worked your way past all the shell suit crowd, they had some poor guy who was on crutches but with a walkie talkie asking the store if they had the size, nu luck with the size but points for trying.
Next some place called Priceless shoes, more like priceless service, upstairs in the mens dept was like the Marie Celeste! nae shoes here.
In desparation I said we should try Greaves sports as it had been there for eons. Upstairs, asked if they had 12's, yes and very nice female assistant went and got them , explained what type of shoe it was etc etc etc. My son who took a fair shine to her and by this time would have worn the boxes on his feet finally decided on a pair that fitted and were comfortable 10points to Greaves, the old ones are often the best.

After that it was back to John Lewis to get him a quilt, sheets etc again 10points to them for service and knowledge.
Why do some shops have blaring awful music? I noticed that the music was always louder in the female shoe section tan in the male bit!
Why do they only hae one shoe, most folks have two feet! why do they have such a small stock? I remember going inbto shoe shops years ago and that was what you got..shoes in abundance!
We then decided to go for a run in the country with him driving. Much more relaxed not like his poor fearty sister though a little too cocky at times. We had a nice meal in the Kirkhouse Inn which he paid for with my money! then back home

Altogether a very nice day. No females just me and my boy!
