View at holes through a (man)hole..

This is a view at a low-pressure condensate heater of unit EC 20.
It's open for repair.
We experienced a raise in waterlevel in this heater every time the load of the machine varied.
Most of the time some pipes are leaking when that happens.
The only (and cheapest) thing to be done is to put a plug in the leaking pipe at the inlet- and the outletside.
So a man crawls inside through the manhole with an opening of 450 by 320 mm. (dimensions are subject to law)
An other method is far more expensive and takes much more time: dismantle the complete thing and pull the bundle of pipes out.
After that it's possible to replace the pipe.
Most of the time that has to be done in the factory.
We can miss several pipes before it "hurts"...
The condensate is rushing through the pipes and is heated by steam, extracted from almost the last part of the Low Pressure steamturbine.
We have several condensate pre-heaters; each is supplied by steam exctracted from other parts of the turbine; thus increasing the efficiency of the unit.
