Welding

Just welding a frew cracks in the piping of the drain system of unit EC 20.
The drain system is a very important part of the unit and is used to let out all the condensated steam out of the turbine when it is at standstil or just going to startup.
Furthermore it is used to drain the steampipes at startup so the full pressure of the boiler at start up (120 bar) is rushing through this system.
So it's heavyly loaded and sometimes a crack occurs. We see that a crack is coming up because the vacuum in the condenser is decreasing then (the drains are dumping into the condenser). So the vacuum in the condenser is sucking ambient air in, thus decreasing the efficiency of the unit.

So we search for leaks spraying with helium and take measurements in the condensate system.
When we see the level rising on the recorder we know we sprayed at the right spot. It's difficult to search because all the pipes are insulated.
