I Was Once as You Are Now, and I know that it's no
I had one of those moments tonight.
I was standing at the check out, in Morrisons, and I glanced up, feeling someone was watching me, and behind beloved in the queue was an elderly man.
He was staring at me, with recognition, but not recognition of me. It was a look I've seen so many times before, when people who were great friends of my dad, look at me and see him, so clearly, in my eyes.
"Hallo", I said, "how are you, I haven't seen you in years....". I recognised him too. This was one of my dad's old golfing buddies. He smiled, realising who he was seeing, and the smile I got brought tears to my eyes. I love the fact that my dad is so fondly remembered, and I love the fact that he's there, in my eyes.
I'm just heartbroken I don't get to see what everyone else see's when they look at me, and I haven't for 25 years.
