Cycling expedition
My son's year went to see a play in the nearby city of Tienen today, and everyone had to go to the theatre on bicycles. Unfortunately for him, the rear derailer on his bike broke on the way to the theatre, so he and a teacher had to head back to school to see if there was a spare bike he could use. Luckily, there was one. Unfortunately, it was a hot pink girl's bike with orange and black flowers! Needless to say, he was subjected to a great deal of teasing by the other kids. When I collected him from school this afternoon, he had a face like thunder. Poor thing.
Anyway, this was the scene when I got to his school.
The cycling culture is strong in Flanders, and over half the students bike to school. However, we live over 25 kms away from the children's schools, so this is not a practical option for them.
