Daily bread

We're so lucky to have good artisanal bakeries where we live. This is a new bakery that recently opened in Jodoigne, a small town 10 minutes away which I pass on my daily school run. They bake about 2 dozen different kinds of bread daily, most of them made with flour and grains from the region. Additionally, there are the breakfast croissants, the coques aux beurres, the pains au chocolats, the cramiques and craquelins as well as fancier pastries and a wide range of country pies and tartes. To my family and friends reading this - I hope you can appreciate how difficult it is to stay thin over here!

The lady behind the counter was happy to let me photograph her. I had one or two better (well, sharper anyway) pictures of her but I liked her shy smile in this one best.



Busy rest of the day today so I'm glad I got my blipping done early.
