Cheap thrills!
Okay, I promised to blip some of my recent flea market finds. Look at these treasures I found at the rommelmarkt in Hoegaarden last week!
1 old condiment/spice rack in carved oak. Every farmhouse kitchen in Belgium used to have one of these. Both the rack and the ceramic drawers are in mint condition though there's one drawer missing. Not a problem, I'm bound to find a replacement drawer somewhere else. Cost: 10 Euros. (ridiculously cheap)
4 small Grès de La Roche pottery jugs, 3.50 Euros for the lot
1 larger Grès de La Roche pottery jug, 1 Euro
1 enamelled metal rack for hanging kitchen towels, 2.50 Euros
Total spent: 17 Euros (a splurge for me)!
At another flea market I went to that same day I saw a similar condiment rack, only it was smaller, had no carving, the wood was warped and most of its ceramic drawers were either cracked or chipped. The seller wanted 95 Euros for it!
Because our house is tiny and wall space is at a premium, my latest finds hang proudly on the wall above our dog's bed. Haha, lucky me!
