Happy Mothers Day!
For the American Mother's Day, I celebrated with my best friend Viviana. Did we go out for a nice lunch, or maybe pamper ourselves at a spa? Nope. We took three trips to the tip after we spent the morning clearing an area out of her backyard for her new chickens (five of them - seen here and here.)
Don't get me wrong, our husbands aren't lazy we just wanted the job done right! ;-) Actually, Charlotte and I were going to go swimming this morning but decided we weren't in the mood at 8.30 so decided a coffee and catch up with friends was more important. Except when we got together, we decided to start work on the back yard. It was very therapeutic using a sledge hammer and huge shearing scissors and winning against the most stubbornest of trees (Vivi kept chanting 'You have met your match your weak weed.' which was very funny with her Italian accent. )
Our hour stop for coffee turned into a 4 hours adventure that was a lot of fun, but physically draining.
About the chickens. I don't know much other than there are 5 of them, 2 brown ones lay the eggs, other 3 keep them company. Personally, it seems a lot of work owning chickens (and a 10 month old lab and 3 young children) when you can go to the end of the road and get organic eggs anyway, but that's just me.
Meanwhile, Charlotte and Roberta had a great day catching up on local gossip and playing games.
