Art In Nature
During the week of Earth Day, eighteen kindergarteners spilled out on to the nature trail armed with digital cameras. With my assistance they learned how to operate a camera, frame a subject, and then scoured every inch of their path for nature's beauty. And beauty being the eye of the beholder, you now can behold their results.
The annual Montessori Art Show was a huge hit and this exhibit was one of the best. I must say, it's not easy keeping such young guys in line and focused on the task at hand, but the rewards were incredibly heart warming. After editing, organizing, and pulling this display together relief was my immediate response. But tonight it took another turn: enjoyment, exhilaration, excitement as the parents and children examined and exclaimed their approval. The best part though was the pride that shone in the children's eyes.
Afterwards, I took my kids out for a celebratory Mexican ice cream. Toasted coconut for me, mango for Alyssa, and chocolate brownie delight for Lewis.
