Contemplating Freedom

It's ironic that his captor is in the reflection of his eye. Actually, I borrowed him from a friend who captured him for her kids, then lent him to a teacher for her class' enjoyment, and then on to me to show my kids. He has endured so much in a week. I think he just about gave up hoping to get a normal life back.

He could have easily jumped from his temporary home, the cooler (chilly bin) filled with a bit of water and a rock. But he didn't seize the chance as the wire baker's rack slid away from view. I tipped the cooler over gently, but he pushed himself further into the bin, staring at the pond wide open in front of him. Was the smell of the water familiar? Could he hear the other frogs croaking from the other side of the pond? Was he savoring his moment of freedom?

I finally tipped the cooler so he slid out, but still he sat there seemingly dazed. Guess I better get my camera then and blip him into the water. It's always my luck that once the camera comes out my subject doesn't want to cooperate. Not today. I got so many amazing pix of my green guy, that it was hard to choose which one to post. I got tired of the photo shoot; just wanted him to hop back into his home, so I reached out my finger to give him a little pet. He let me pet him. Amazing.

I nudged him further and then he sprang to life. Splash!
