Arts Unique
Waking up in a comfortable bed after a good night's sleep - bliss. It takes 3 days of being in the relative wilderness, sleeping in a room full of snoring people to really appreciate that!
Anyway, we lunged around until 10, drank coffee, relaxed, packed the car, then check out and headed back down to the park Cafe. Breakfast out - yum. And simply great, I had the big breakfast which simply was the biggest and best value breakfast I've had for along time.
Then across the road to Arts Unique, which is as they say. Lots of lovely carvings and an outdoor walk (donation) which is superb. Many great photo opportunities.
Then in the car at 12, down to Moutere to buy wine and jam, and on our way home, arriving back at 7.
Overall, one of the best family trips we have done, although obviously one with the most effort, but so worth it. We learned lots about tramping with kids. Needless to say there are now a number of purchases about to occur to minimise weight, until such time they can carry their own gear. Food choices are also critical and we made a few mistakes. Despite trying to reduce volume and packaging we could have done better - we now got a long list of 'to do next time'!
