Stilwell Bay

Today was day 4 of our tramp on the Abel Tasman track. The Mission: Anchorage to Marahau - 12.5km

Our last day of the walk, and despite the 12.5km walk we decided to make the most of the day. We headed to the beach, breakfasted there, had coffee there, swam, read, enjoyed the glorious day. Just divine - paradise really.

Then at 11.30 it was time to leave, and we headed south, the longest, but last walk. The kids have been amazing, each day they have walked around 10km and coped really well. Mum and Dad have coped mostly, however our packs have been "quite" heavy, as we're carrying all the kids gear and food. Several blisters, but that?s normal really ;-)

Anyway, we headed off once again beautiful conditions - not to hot or cold, A great time of year to walk the track, and so uncrowded. Nice bush as usual, I could have blipped a lovely stream, but instead this quintessential shot of the golden bays, in this case, Stilwell Bay.

Finally at 5pm we made it the "The Park Cafe", literally at the end of the track, shrugged off our packs, and sat down to a cold beer. It couldn't have tasted any better!

Then a short walk back to our accommodation, and shower, and back to the cafe for dinner. Simply a glorious end to a wonderful trip.

Overall, we were lucky with the weather, it's surely the best time of year to walk the track, unlucky (but that probably usual) with the snoring, and the kids were fantastic. It was simply a brilliant family experience and both kids walked 38km over 4 days without (although lots of sugar was adminstered).

We're looking forward to the next outing!
