Bathroom Reflections
What a night of bacchanalian feasting and revelry we had last night.
The 50th wedding anniversary bash was held in an upmarket country house hotel near Blargowrie where we enjoyed dinner and a night of sumptious comfort at our hosts' expense.
The dinner was relaxed and lengthy with wine flowing freely and entertainment provided by two classically trained singers. They even managed to get us to sing along with songs from popular shows, and heaven forbid they even had us up on our feet dancing on the spot. Even his Lordship who claims knee problems when confronted by dancing but who can manage 14 miles over the hills every week, had to get up and shuffle his feet.
After bed past midnight , it was an early morning swim in the pool and a relaxing time in the jacuzzi followed by a breakfast fit for kings.
The only downside of the whole experience was discovering that the bath in the bathroom was surrounded on three sides by wall to ceiling mirrors. This under any circumstances is NOT GOOD. Had we the same in the castle, these mountains of flesh, which could only have been mine, would not have been allowed exist.
Bathrooms should only be allowed a small mirror at face level and even that would be bad enough.
Outside in the driveway, our much loved Ford Focus was trying hard to maintain face when parked alongside his Lordship's cousin's Rolls Royce and the other Bentleys and Jaguars. Our car, known in the family as Suzy, had the last laugh when the Rolls wouldn't start because D had left the lights on and the battery was flat, while she was off and running at the first turn of the key. We love you Suzy!
And we are not in the least envious of the cars and the second homes in Florida........ indeed we are not.
A great time was had by all and we enjoyed every minute of it, although it is hard to return to normality..... a large gin and tonic is helping.
