Good Friday
All day I was on a mission. (The first mission being to stay in bed as long as the children would let me! 8:15!)
They wanted to craft. Needed googly eyes for their painted rocks. I never could find them.
I made a Holy Thursday dinner last year. We had like 12 different kid-friendly items spread out all over a fancy table setting. Wine glasses with sparkling blueberry juice. The works. I couldn't find the menu anywhere today!! (yeah, a day late even!) So I wanted to make pretzels (for the first time). Walked over to TJ's for supplies, yeast. They don't carry yeast. Only when it's a holiday. I told them "well, It's a holiday!" No yeast. My dear neighbor had yeast! Yippee! Didn't have to chase out to the store again.
Made the pretzels! (The fire alarm didn't like my use of wax paper in the 400 degree oven) But they came out well! Send some to my neighbors and she brought over lemons and was so grateful :) .
So I ended up making baked fish, rice, asparagus, broccoli, and fish sticks. Scrapped the whole "meaningful menu" idea until next year. "Seamless garments" made from tortillas, "purple cloak" made from fruit leather, basamic vinegar for the vinegar offer on the crucifix....there were lots of cool ideas.
We did have Ritz crackers with peanutbutter and broke up pretzels and made them look like a crown of thorns. And I didn't let the kids eat between 12 and 3:00 (aside from 2 crackers each because I forgot to feed them lunch before noon!!).
We went to the doctor again with Ben. The steroids seem to be helping. She is still unsure about kind of rash it is. Happily, his blood work came back normal, but also didn't give any clues to help us. She wants me to call her tomorrow ...and Sunday.
** bonus: I didn't even notice the cross behind the flowers until after I took the picture. My brother, who touts himself as agnostic, made it for me out of clay for Christmas. It's special.
