High School Musical

Just back from an excellent school show - Hairspray.

No 1 had a chorus part (and sang one verse solo), No 2 was working the spotlight. Nice to see them getting so involved.

10/10 for enthusiasm and staying in character. Hugely entertaining.

Reminded me of many school shows in my youth. "The King & I" (my sister was the understudy for Anna), HMS Pinafore, My Fair Lady, and the bizarre 'Tempation Sordid or Virtue Rewarded" . It wasn't about the performance - it was about the rehearsals, the backstage antics, the newly found love in the principal parts, and getting out of class.

our shows certainly weren't Hollywood blockbusters - and Zak Efron didn't grace his gorgeous presence on our stage...but badly fitting costumes, dodgy orchestra (I was in the pit!), and (slightly) wooden acting in our shows made them all EPIC !
