Look Out

A new view .........

Meeting in Manchester this morning, and I parked in the brand new New Bailey car park - its opening morning, so attendants were handing out scratch cards. I only got three festive penguins, so no free holiday.

The overall site will also see new commercial development, with work started on a new office block. As the site is located right next to Salford Central station and facing Spinningfields on the other bank of the Irwell, it is a good location. The site itself gets its name from the New Bailey Prison - long gone, but the archaeological dig revealed the foundations.

As I had time I went to the top of the car park and took photos in all directions fascinating views, and some which are going to see massive change over the coming months and years.

This view is looking along the rail line from Salford Central towards Victoria station (just out of view). It is I think impossible to get out of the centre of Manchester without having to pass under a viaduct - and certainly not from this direction.
