The Talking Newspaper for the Blind is sent out on memory sticks to more than seventy blind or partially sighted people in the area. The process begins with two people, grandly called the editors, reading through the local paper and selecting the news items they think would interest the listeners. The items are then cut out, stuck onto nine boards and then, on Thursday evening , these are read and recorded, before being sent out to the listeners.
I had a dual role today, editing this afternoon, the reading this evening. It is something I really enjoy doing and I know it is a valuable service.
Meanwhile our own edition of the local paper is rendered unreadable, only fit for the bin!
