Handle with care...
We started our camera safari at Manchester Museum on Sunday. I hadn't really given it must thought but kind of imagined it would be quiet. How wrong I was. It was full of the middle classes making sure their offspring didn't fall behind educationally in the two days off school. Then there was a flashmob of pensioners who sang rather well on the staircase from the entrance to the main galleries. Then there was a group of kids all in animal onesies for some reason. It was busy.
We were supposed to treat our digital cameras like old fashioned cameras with actual film. In those days you had to really think is you wanted a shot. The delete function on a digital camera has done away with that if course. Mine picture was of an ammonite fossil.
But I also liked the shabti figures in the Egyptian gallery, the little figures that they find burial sites. There were lots made of different substances depending how wealthy you were. These, in bright blue, fake faience were in the museum shop. I love the colour.
