Porty People and Places

The wind chill was -1 today according to my phone app. It felt even colder than that this afternoon when we continued our car hunt out in the wild west of Edinburgh.

Having cast aspersions on the tram network, as recently as Friday, it seems hypocritical of me to admit that we did find that this route was the quickest way to check out the far flung motor dealers - and the connection from bus to tram at Haymarket could have been a commercial extolling the merits of our city's integrated mass transit system!

The trams would have been full of happy Scottish rugby fans, city pub bound, last night after Scotland's excellent reformation against the best Rugby Union team in the world. Roll on The Six Nations now!

We passed the Romanian Consululate on the way and wondered why there were so many people coming and going. On the way home, I worked out that it was being used as a remote polling station for the Romanian Presidential elections taking place today.

( When we were living in Poland such a facility was, surprisingly, not afforded to us ex pat Brits and postal votes were subject to the unreliability of post to and from Poland within the tight timeframe prescribed by the Returning Officer.)
