Remembrance Day

At 11.00am on the 11th day of the 11th month I found myself sharing a poignant moment of remembrance with dozens of people I had never met. I was just quickly buying a few provisions at the local supermarket when I heard the "Last Post" being played and then a beautiful rendition of the Ode.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

And then a minutes silence. It was a moment I will remember for a long time. Ordinary Australians standing as one to honour those who fought and died for our country.

And then there was a rainbow. I will visit the Botanical Gardens in Bundaberg on many occasions over the year, but this image will remain with me forever.
