Princes Park, Liverpool

Liverpool parks (8). This inner city jewel lies between Sefton Park and Liverpool 8. It originated as a private park which was open to the public, designed by Joseph Paxton and opened in 1842, and came to be a model for other Victorian Parks. Paxton himself went on to design Birkenhead Park which in turn influenced Central Park New York. It was bought by the council in 1918. The park has everything, lovely trees, a serpentine lake (with fish), open space, playground, tennis courts etc. and provides a much used route to work and to school.

The weather forecast today was for rain, so I set out early to catch the morning sun.
