Everton Park, Liverpool

Liverpool parks (7). This is our newest park, created in the 1980's and now needing some tlc, and cash. It is built along a hillside that used to have the greatest concentration of high rise blocks in... well, certainly in Liverpool. They were taken over by a Housing Action Trust (HAT), which together with the right to buy was seen as one of the Thatcher government's flagship policies to privatise public sector housing. This HAT demolished most of its high rise and was fairly well endowed to be able to build good quality replacement homes.

The park has a great view of the Mersey and across to New Brighton and the Welsh hills. The last time I was here was to watch the tall ships leave Liverpool. This time, I was hoping for a nice sunset, but it was not quite to be.
